Overview
Nursing and Paramedical institutes across the state of Uttar Pradesh offer a variety of
degree / diploma courses. However, currently there is significant difference in the quality of training
& infrastructure across these institutes. Aspiring students have no information on the quality of
institutes or the courses offered by them. Employers, especially in the private sector, do not trust the
quality of graduating students & hence offer low salaries.
Public ratings of institutes will enable students & employers to identify better quality institutes to take admissions in/recruit from. Additionally, it will help institutes identify gaps and improve in their quality.

Approach
Institutes were rated on three broad parameters (1) Infrastructure, (2)
Teaching-Learning Processes, and (3) Learning Outcomes & Skills of Faculty & Students
It was a 5-step process. Step 1 was notification of a detailed rating policy by UPSMF which lays down the entire process along with the rating assessment tools, used for assessing the quality of institutes.
As next steps, all institutes submitted their self-assessment forms, which were verified online for data completion and statutory complaince by the Quality Council of India (QCI), a third-party agency.
As step 3, the information filled by institutes was validated by on-ground QCI assessors. UPSMF also conducted spot checks of assessments in a sample of these institutes to ensure quality & integrity of assessments. Reports from on-ground assessments were then scored to generate institute scores.
As step 4, these reports were shared with institutes, before publishing, to invite & resolve any grievances that they might have.
Post this, all institutes scores were normalised & assigned comparative ratings from A to E; A being the highest. These ratings were launched by the Hon'ble CM Shri Yogi Adityanath
